Winston pays the bills, Rachel tracks the spending: Rachel Cruze's couples short
Her four habits for married money went up on Monday, after a mortgage video that turned its comments into a debate over VA and FHA loans.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
4 Money Habits For Couples
Rachel Cruze usually counts on close to a hundred thousand views a day across her library. Lately it has been a bit less than that. Yet her newest short, "4 Money Habits For Couples," took off right away and passed 22,000 views within about half a day.
The habits come straight from her own marriage. The description lays out the split: her husband Winston handles the bills, she keeps track of what they spend, and they sit down together every month to plan. They also talk about where they want to be in five, ten or fifteen years, and there is no "my money" in the house, only "ours." For someone who grew up as Dave Ramsey's daughter, that is close to the family business.
The week's biggest video was a longer one, "5 Mortgages To Avoid," now past 45,000 views, and its comment section did a lot of talking back. Veterans stood up for the VA loan, several viewers explained how they dropped mortgage insurance on an FHA loan by refinancing or building equity, and others asked who can manage a 15-year fixed payment or 20 percent down. One person suggested the advice belongs in high school classrooms.
Around those two came lighter shorts, a "Girl Math" joke and an apology to every teacher who ever told her she talked too much, now that talking is her job. Seven uploads in all. Among the money and business channels near her size, her week fell in the middle of the group. Frugal Fit Mom ran ahead of her usual pace, and most of the others, from Morning Brew to Reventure Consulting, were slower than usual.
