London's 'MASS Power Outage' follows Paris onto Neil McCoy-Ward's channel
Fourteen hours in, the London video had nearly matched what his Paris video gathered in five days, and the comments are full of arguments about a single cable.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 213,344 views a day, 24 times a normal first day on this channel (8,897).
⚠️ Just Happened! (London MASS Power Outage!)
Five days after Paris, Neil McCoy-Ward turned to his own side of the Channel. His new video, titled "⚠️ Just Happened! (London MASS Power Outage!)", passed 160,000 views in its first fourteen hours. A new long video on his channel usually ends its whole first day below 10,000.
That also puts it almost level with "What's Going On?! (PARIS Under Siege & Everything Falling Apart FAST!!)", the video that started the run, as we reported here, and that has had five days to climb. In between came a string of shorts on French protests, Russia and NATO. The London video is the first long upload since then.
The channel bills itself as a guide to protecting savings and pensions in a world it calls "designed to work against you". On this video, though, viewers are talking about the grid. Many question whether one failed cable could black out so much of the city, and several who describe themselves as electricians say it could not. Others keep returning to the figure of 33 districts. A few Londoners write that their own streets never lost power at all.
Behind the comments, the blackout itself is simply the subject. The title does not say what caused it.
