Video taking off 10x its usual first day

A collect call from Lucia opens Grand Theft Auto VI's launch trailer

Rockstar's last look before the November 19 release brings heists, airboats and an iguana in the road, and a comment section with one recurring question about discs.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 666,616 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (66,622).

"This is a free call from Lucia Caminos," says an automated voice from a correctional phone line, and Jason picks up. Before that, he is buffing a boat at Brian's Marina in the Keys, explaining that he got in some trouble in the army and "didn't leave on the best of terms."

The Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer, a Rockstar Games ad posted on PlayStation's official channel, runs just under a minute and a half. It moves quickly from that quiet opening into Vice City and its surroundings: lowriders, local wildlife, bank heists, airboat rides, snipers, helicopter stunts and a fall into a swimming pool. In the one still moment of the montage, Lucia asks, "Are we going to be okay?" Jason answers: "We've stuck together through everything. We just got to get through it."

This is a trailer people went looking for. It drew roughly 670,000 views in its first day, about ten times what a PlayStation upload of this length usually manages. The comments came in more than eleven times faster than usual. On the same day the channel also posted a Kokura story trailer for RGG Studio's Stranger Than Heaven, which drew a small fraction of that audience.

The comment section reads like a countdown. Viewers spot an iguana sitting in the road, praise Rockstar's music once again and joke about the trailer breakdowns soon to come. Many say the announcer's voice at the end takes them back to the GTA III days. A steady chorus keeps asking whether there will be a physical disc, and the trailer does not say.

It does settle the date that the comments have long joked about: November 19, 2026, rated M for mature.
