Two kings find the card: Oscar Owen's no-setup trick takes the stage
A self-working card trick that works with any borrowed deck passed 70,000 views in five days, among six new lessons that also covered matches, coins and a one-handed cut.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Any Deck. No Setup. GREATEST Card Trick Ever (Revealed)
The kings did the work. Of the six videos Oscar Owen posted this week, "Any Deck. No Setup. GREATEST Card Trick Ever (Revealed)" is the one people keep finding. Its description calls it one of his favorite tricks ever. The effect is a self-working routine in which two kings locate the spectator's chosen card. The video runs about three minutes of performance and then switches to the tutorial.
That fits the promise in the channel's own about text. Owen says he teaches impromptu miracles with borrowed objects, without fancy props. A trick that needs nothing but whatever deck is on the table is about as close to that pitch as a video gets. Five days in, it is drawing several times more daily views than everything else from the week put together.
The rest of the week was smaller and more hands-on. There was a matchstick trick, a pencil that becomes a marker and a retention coin vanish. A lesson on the one-handed cut, a classic flourish for anyone learning to handle cards, also went up. The newest upload, a second coin vanish, is only a day old and is already moving faster than the matchstick video.
Across the whole channel, views ran right at their usual level, and new subscribers kept arriving at a pace of thousands a day. Among the magic, craft and art channels near his size, several are running below their normal pace, MADABOUTLEGO and Minibricks among them. Owen's steadiness stands out a little in that company. Sam Builds remains the giant of the group, with daily views counted in the millions.
