Archie Madekwe remembers the plaster. While filming Saltburn, he says, a hotel-room wall suddenly burst apart after he had been told the place was haunted by Queen Victoria. It's a suitably theatrical contribution to The Jonathan Ross Show's Halloween compilation, which has reached around 5,000 views.

"Ghosts, UFOs & Haunted Hotels: Danny Dyer, Sting & Archie Madekwe | The Jonathan Ross Show" gathers archive conversations rather than a new sofa lineup. Dyer recalls a disappearing monk during a late-night graffiti outing; Sting describes an apparition in a centuries-old home. Ross also opens the question to the green room, bringing Goldie Hawn and Liam Neeson into the supernatural storytelling.

Then Alan Carr supplies the distinctly less solemn finish: a childhood Ouija-board story about being accidentally outed while playing with his mother. Celebrity ghost stories can apparently take quite a detour.

Away from haunted hotels, Penn Jillette's rope trick for Rebel Wilson is the busiest of the channel's highlighted uploads right now. Posted last month, it is drawing more than three times the compilation's daily views. Adam Lambert's archive conversation about Queen, the Oscars and a text from Mel B is also keeping company with the new arrival.

The channel's subscriber count was unchanged over the week, but daily viewing is noticeably above its usual level, at roughly 160,000 views. Loose Women is seeing a similar lift above its own routine; Very Important People is having a quieter spell. For Ross, the week's fresh upload adds ghosts to an archive where a magician is doing much of the work.
