Fiscalía vincula Inés Gómez Mont a desvío de 3 mil millones
Former Mexican television host Inés Gómez Mont has been detained in Florida, according to Mexico's MILENIO, bringing her legal situation in the United States into focus alongside the criminal investigation she faces in Mexico.
The brief report shows a photograph of Gómez Mont, her eyes obscured, standing between two officers wearing federal police vests. Known to television audiences for programmes including Ventaneando, she is being investigated alongside her husband, businessman Víctor Manuel Álvarez Puga, the broadcaster says.
According to the report, Mexico's federal Attorney General's Office links the couple to an alleged scheme diverting around 3 billion pesos in public money through companies and irregular financial transactions. The broadcaster says the investigation concerns suspected organised crime and operations involving illicit funds.
The report also distinguishes between international alerts and domestic arrest warrants. It says Interpol cancelled the couple's red notices in September 2026, while arrest warrants remained in force in Mexico. It separately recalls that Álvarez Puga was detained in Miami in September 2025 over immigration matters.
The closing update raises the possibility that Mexico could seek Gómez Mont's extradition. It does not announce an extradition decision or a timetable for her return.
