Mario Adrion meets America's melting pot in one audience member
"People Love Germany Too Much" turns Spanish, Mexican and Portuguese roots, plus a German wife, into a crowd-work routine.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
People Love Germany Too Much
The flannel is only the beginning. In "People Love Germany Too Much," Mario Adrion meets an audience member who lists Spanish, Mexican and Portuguese heritage, identifies as American, then adds that he has a German wife.
"You sound like a spokesperson for America," Adrion tells him. Wearing a blue tracksuit, the comedian inventories the man's international mix before his wife confirms, in German, that she was born in Germany. It's a neatly specific starting point for Adrion's larger joke about German identity, including an encounter with a Florida man whose enthusiasm for Germany far exceeded his travel experience.
That clip is the most watched of Adrion's six uploads this week. Elsewhere, "Why Germans Are Jealous of Latinos | Mario Adrion" continues the cross-cultural theme, while "Russian Late to Comedy Show" and the just-arrived "Audience Member Won't Stop Talking" put audience behavior right in the titles.
The channel added roughly 39 million views and 32,000 subscribers over seven days. Its current daily viewing is also above its usual level. Among nearby stand-up channels, Denny love has had a substantial subscriber-growth week too, while Phil Hanley's subscriber count was unchanged.
The freshest uploads aren't doing all the work. "German Sausage Phrases," posted more than two weeks ago, is drawing daily views at almost the same rate as "The Cutest Form of Anti-Semitism," the busiest upload right now. Between the sausage vocabulary and the man who calls himself America's melting pot, Adrion has plenty of material in the gaps between cultures.

@Tom-m9l6hSee it on YouTubeLast week, my boss brought some German music in to work. It was Rage music. I thought I was in Bergheim. A few minutes later, he came back and asked if I liked it. I simply said "no." I don't think he was prepared for such a direct answer.
