Apple's first foldable gets five features and a test on MacRumors

The iPhone Duo starts at $1,999, with pre-orders opening October 16, and four of the channel's five new uploads were about it.

Is the iPhone Duo worth $1,999? MacRumors spent its week answering from every side. Four of its five new uploads went to Apple's first foldable iPhone, and the one that pulled the biggest crowd was a hands-on rundown, "iPhone Duo: The 5 Features That Matter Most," which passed 180,000 views. It walks through the 7.6-inch folding display, the A20 Pro chip and battery life, camera tricks made possible by the second screen, true multitasking and Apple Pencil support, along with early impressions of the crease and the nano-texture inner display.

The comment section reads like a countdown. Many viewers say they have alarms set for the October 16 pre-order, and some plan the exact minute, from 8am Eastern in the US to 1am the next day in New Zealand. Others debate whether Apple's ecosystem will set the Duo apart from other foldables, and a few ask how the crease holds up after thousands of folds.

The newest uploads are smaller and sharper: a short test for deciding between the Duo and the iPhone 18 Pro, and a blunt one titled "$2K iPhone. Not a Pro Camera." The test is already the fastest thing on the channel. An older comparison from late September, "iPhone Duo vs. 18 Pro: Don't Buy the Wrong One," is still finding people too. The odd one out was a sponsored review of a clip-on telephoto lens for the iPhone 18 Pro.

For all that Duo talk, the channel ran well below its usual daily pace, and about 1,000 new subscribers joined. Most of its technology neighbors were also running slower than usual. Michael MJD was the clear exception, well above his usual pace.
