Margaritaville, Disney Wish and Virgin: Lindsay Ellis' least evil cruise keeps sailing

The two-hour essay, twelve days old and nearing four million views, rides six ships back to back with a kazoo credit for Dan Olson.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Lindsay Ellis posted nothing new over the past seven days, which leaves the deck clear for the video that has been carrying her channel since it went up: "I Tested Every Cruise Line to Find the Least Evil."

The premise is simple and slightly unhinged. She sailed back to back across six ships, from Celebrity Reflection and Margaritaville at Sea Paradise to Disney Wish, Virgin Voyages' Resilient Lady, a Carnival ship and Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas, to find out whether they all suck as much as Royal Caribbean. The description also asks whether Richard Branson is "daddy now." Along the way it gets into flags of convenience, crew contracts, tax havens and the drink packages, and the credits list Princess Weekes, Jessie Gender and Foreign Man in a Foreign Land, plus, wonderfully, "the kazoo stylings of Dan Olson." Even the description jokes that its keyword pile reads like word salad.

Twelve days in, it is close to four million views and still drawing far more daily traffic than anything else she has up. Behind it, last year's "The Unforgivable Sin of Ms Rachel" and the spring's "Did Disney Really Steal Aladdin?" keep a steady trickle going. That Aladdin question is home turf: Disney was half of what the about text promises, alongside Transformers and musicals.

The channel picked up about 10,000 subscribers over the week, though its daily views have eased from their usual level as the cruise video's first rush settles. Among the movie and commentary channels near her size, Channel Awesome and Mr Sunday Movies are running at roughly double their normal pace, and 酱sir电影局 is having an enormous week.
