American Patriot's five decks carry Jim Zim through a week off

Jim Zimmerlin's tour of the first Patriot-class ship from American Cruise Lines, filmed on a two-week Great Lakes trip, is the video viewers are finding now.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

What's So Special About American Patriot And The Patriot Class On American Cruise LinesWhat's So Special About American Patriot And The Patriot Class On American Cruise Lines

"What's So Special About American Patriot And The Patriot Class On American Cruise Lines" is a deck-by-deck walk through a 130-passenger ship. It is the first of a new deep-water class, and Jim Zimmerlin of Pasco, Washington, sailed it for two weeks across three of the Great Lakes, with stops in New York, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. The chapters climb from Deck 1 to the sun deck, and along the way he sets the ship beside the line's 180-passenger riverboats, such as American Encore.

The tour is twelve days old and has passed 7,000 views. It is the most watched thing on the channel right now, and the description makes it the opening chapter of a new series. Behind it, the Ohio River story is still being found: the highlights reel from American Melody, which runs from the Louisville Slugger factory to Pittsburgh's Roberto Clemente Bridge, and the fourth episode, the one with the thunderstorm and the pizza hunt in Belpre.

No new video went up in the past seven days, and the channel ran slower than its usual pace. Subscribers held at 494,000. Most of the travel channels near its size were also below their normal speed. Jess & Jake were the exception, right on theirs.

With a Great Lakes series promised, the slow week reads more like a gap between voyages.
