Five days of Flixbus, and 400,000 subscribers for Chris Howett
His 'Bus from Hell' trip across Europe, from Finland into Germany, passed 880,000 views in six days and arrived with a thank-you for the new milestone.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I Took the 5 Day ‘Bus from Hell’ Across Europe
Among the travel channels around his size, nobody added more views over the past seven days than Chris Howett, and he did it with a single video about sitting on a bus for most of a working week.
"I Took the 5 Day 'Bus from Hell' Across Europe" is exactly that: five days of long-distance coaches, overnight legs included, with a description that opens on a nursery rhyme and closes with a thank-you for 400,000 subscribers. The soundtrack leans on old favorites, Van Morrison's "Brown Eyed Girl" and "Everybody's Talkin'" from Midnight Cowboy among them. It has passed 880,000 views in six days, and it is still drawing far more each day than anything else on the channel.
The comments are their own travel diary. A surprising number are about his microphone, which many viewers think looks like a cotton bud. Others trade notes on Flixbus itself: one regular rider says Chris got lucky with his buses, another remembers crossing from London to Lisbon for twelve pounds, and a Finland joke about making small talk with the driver gets its share of nods. The ending, with its double take and sudden cut to music, gets singled out too.
Behind the new trip, older adventures keep moving. "I Tried a Secret Billionaire Hotel", from early summer, is past 4.6 million views, and a marathon run in hyper shoes, posted the winter before, still pulls in a similar number each day. Subscribers rose by about 7,000 over the week, a steady climb for a channel whose about line is a simple invitation to go on an adventure.
The nearby channels mostly had a slower stretch: em and SteveMarsh still gathered well over a million views each, but both ran below their usual pace.

Truth is we all need a Flixbus once in a while, no matter how good or bad they might be.
