'Upgrade Today!' becomes iJustine's second Google short to wake up
Posted a day before its sibling, it had sat almost untouched for two weeks and is now drawing dozens of times its usual daily views, while viewers argue over how much to trust an AI assistant.
Why this story? The video is running at 59,149 views a day, 37 times its usual pace (1,616).
#GooglePartner Upgrade Today!
Justine Ezarik has two short Google-tagged clips on her channel, posted a day apart in mid-September, and both have come back to life at the same time. As we reported here, "#GooglePartner Making my life easier with Google AI Pro" had started running far above its usual pace. Now the older of the pair, "#GooglePartner Upgrade Today!", is doing the same, at more than thirty times the views it normally gathers in a day.
The clip is close to 90,000 views, and most of them arrived in the last day. Its first two weeks were quiet. During that time, the channel's long-form videos did the heavy lifting: the M6 Mac mini and M5 Ultra Mac Studio unboxing, the 300-inch Hisense projector, the Apple Watch comparison and a conversation with Snap's Evan Spiegel about his Specs glasses.
The comments read like a small debate about AI. One viewer jokes that reviews are no longer needed if you can just ask Gemini. Another says the research is half the fun of buying tech, and compares the tidy document in the video to a terms-of-service agreement nobody reads. Others want an AI that runs on their own machine, and a few warn about answers that are confidently wrong.
Even with the lift, the channel as a whole is running a little below its usual daily pace. That leaves two Google shorts as the busiest corner of a channel best known for unboxing Apple hardware.
