Borage, beauty and a book called Edimentals: Huw Richards plants for looks
Both of his new videos point toward his upcoming book on edible plants that also make a garden pretty, and a 47-day-old compost guide is doing quiet work beside them.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
8 Easy Crops That Make Your Garden Look Incredible
Huw Richards, the Welsh grower who has spent years teaching people to feed themselves from small plots, spent his week on a slightly different question: can a vegetable garden also be beautiful? Both new uploads say yes, and both carry the name of his coming book, Edimentals, a word built from edible and ornamental.
The Saturday video, "8 Easy Crops That Make Your Garden Look Incredible," billed as a way to add beauty without giving up any harvest, opened with a good first day and is the channel's quickest mover now. Its comments read like a reading group. Several viewers list the Huw books already on their shelves and say they have preordered the new one; others trade notes on borage, with one recalling the Spanish habit of serving its leaves battered and sugared, and another delighted by the idea of recruiting insects instead of fighting them. A few noticed the ending seems to cut off early.
The midweek short, "How To Grow Food by Stealth!", set up the same idea and has settled into a slower pace.
The long-lived worker is older: "How to Grow More Food With Less Compost | The Complete Guide," an hour-plus tour from hay mulch to trench composting and JADAM fertilisers, is still pulling steady daily views seven weeks on.
Overall the channel ran a little below its usual pace, adding around a thousand subscribers. Among homesteading channels of similar size, Laura Farms and Serkan Doğada had the loud weeks; Huw's was a calmer one, spent on flowers you can eat.

What viewers say
I LOVE the term you used "recruit an army of insects." 1:10 Such a contrast to the idea we need to get rid of all insects in the garden.
@Creativefilms_MusicSee it on YouTubeBorage is one of the best plants in the garden. It attracts pollinators, has delicious leaves — in Spain, it’s a treat for children, served battered and sprinkled with sugar — and beautiful flowers that are perfect for salads. A must-have in my garden ❤
@maite_recheSee it on YouTubeThat’s true with borage- I never have to seed it, but am able to transplant my volunteer young plants around the garden every year and additionally can gift my friends with some of them🌸.
That’s stunning to hear that the blossoms can be visited by a new bee all 5 minutes- didn’t expect that!😎💪🏼🍯@danielarichter2453See it on YouTube
