Tom Cruise was a guest on someone else's talk show, and Good Morning America has turned that into one of its quickest-starting clips. In twelve hours, Lara Spencer's Pop News segment built around his turn in the "Spirit Tunnel" on The Jennifer Hudson Show passed 34,000 views. That is about eleven times what a new GMA video usually gathers in its whole first day.
The rest of the day's uploads put that in perspective. Rachael Ray and Dr. Ian Smith cooking from their menopause cookbook, Tory Johnson's Deals & Steals and Zach Braff on the Scrubs revival each sit at a few thousand views.
Pop News is Spencer's quick tour of the day's chatter, and this edition covers more than Cruise. It also has Harry Connick Jr. talking about a new project that honors his late mother. And it reports that Congress has passed the bill ending production of the penny, which the United States has been minting since the 1790s. One of the clip's tags also names Digger.
The small comment section is mostly about whether the title delivers. One viewer calls Cruise a delight on Hudson's show. Another says they saw no dance moves at all. A third thinks the clip should have stopped sooner.
