- 21:35The manga's Kyoto school trip brings genuine friendships, without removing Tomoko's unruly personality.
Tomoko gets another chance. In Gigguk's WataMote retrospective, the painfully awkward anime heroine turns out to have a life beyond the adaptation's relentless embarrassment: a manga story where genuine friendships begin to form.
Gigguk posted nothing new this week, but "This Anime Traumatized A Generation" remains his busiest video, with almost 1.5 million views. Garnt revisits the 2013 comedy through Tomoko Kuroki's spectacularly misguided confidence, her attempts to impress other people and the uncomfortable recognition beneath the jokes. The video includes a sponsored mobile-game segment.
His reservation is that the anime leaves her almost unchanged. The manga offers a different experience: during a Kyoto school trip, Tomoko begins building real connections. Crucially, Garnt argues, companionship doesn't turn her into someone else. The unruly personality survives the warmer story. That distinction gives the retrospective something more to offer than a greatest-hits collection of scenes that are difficult to sit through.
Elsewhere in the archive, "Summer Anime 2026 In A Nutshell" has crossed a million views, reaching the milestone it was approaching in our earlier note. "The Current State of Romance Anime." also remains among the channel's busiest uploads.
The subscriber audience held steady, while today's viewing is below Gigguk's usual daily level. Nearby anime channel TeamFourStar also has a slower-than-usual daily audience, whereas Avatar Legends is above its normal level. For Gigguk, the most active corner of the archive remains Tomoko's uneasy journey from imagined popularity towards actual friendship.
