Frugal Fit Mom's shopping regrets have a rainbow-colored exception

Christine revisits her Gap paychecks, unused appliances and bulk-buying mistakes, but makes room for silverware that brings her joy.

  1. 1:26Thrift-store appliances illustrate why a gadget for one particular food may become clutter.
  2. 4:04Christine judges shoes by whether she can comfortably wear them, not just how they look.
  3. 11:47Bulk and clearance groceries need a plan for using them, rather than simply an attractive price.
  4. 13:24Declutter before buying storage containers, so the containers serve what you actually keep.
  5. 15:52Test a new hobby before committing to expensive equipment.
  6. 19:12Her rainbow-colored silverware is an impulse purchase she considers worth keeping.

Can an impulse purchase earn its place in a frugal kitchen? Christine has an answer: the iridescent silverware she bought at Walmart and proudly holds toward the camera. Not every unplanned purchase becomes a regret.

That exception gives a playful finish to "10 Things You will ALWAYS Regret Buying (Don't make my mistakes)", the most watched of Frugal Fit Mom's two uploads this week. It reached roughly 52,000 views in its first twelve hours. Her other upload was "Happy Halloween!"

Christine starts the longer video with her teenage job at Gap: "I basically went to work in exchange for pants." From there, she visits thrift-store aisles full of kitchen appliances, weighs uncomfortable shoes against pairs she can actually wear, and questions groceries bought in bulk without a meal plan. The video includes a sponsored mattress segment.

Her most useful distinction isn't simply cheap versus expensive. It's whether a purchase fits the life you actually live. Storage containers bought before decluttering and ambitious hobby equipment both come under scrutiny. In the comments, viewers offer their own counterexamples: bread machines and George Foreman grills that have earned years of use. Others put storage space first or suggest libraries as a way to test a hobby.

The same buy-with-a-purpose thread connects her busiest older uploads. Her Costco picks continue drawing viewers, alongside "I Stopped Buying Groceries (Here's What Happened) - 120 day update", which turns pantry supplies into chili, enchiladas and soup.

The channel added a thousand subscribers over the week, though daily viewing is currently a little below its usual level. Christine's shopping advice also leaves room for something that needs no elaborate justification: cutlery she enjoys using.

What viewers say

  • My first thought is “where am I going to store this?” That has stopped me from buying lots of stuff.

  • I bought a bread machine 35 years ago and used it a lot when my kids were young. I’m on my second one now and use it a few times a week for bread & rolls. I make a double batch pizza dough a few times a month & freeze the extra. It’s a good investment for me even though other people never use theirs.

  • I use my George Foreman. In fact, when we started having kids, I upgraded to the family size. Still using it all these years later.
