- 0:00Blake argues that creators should build an independent website rather than rely entirely on social platforms.
- 4:43A sponsored website-builder demonstration shows AI tools and e-commerce features.
- 6:12A personal website should control your narrative, capture emails, enable direct sales and establish credibility.
- 8:27Blake uses his self-published book to illustrate selling directly rather than through a retail platform.
- 9:23A custom domain and professional email can help establish credibility when pitching brands and media outlets.
Roberto Blake holds up his self-published book, Create Something Awesome, to make a practical point: creators can build a business beyond the platforms that introduce them to an audience.
That is the argument beneath the deliberately sweeping title "SOCIAL MEDIA IS OVER (Why Every Creator Needs a Personal Brand)". Rather than announcing social media's demise, Blake advocates having a website and an email list alongside it. "I want you to be an owner instead of a renter," he says.
The most watched of his two new uploads reached roughly 6,700 views. It includes a sponsored segment for a website builder, then lays out four jobs for a personal site: controlling your narrative, capturing email addresses, selling directly and establishing credibility.
The comments add a useful complication. Viewers ask how different niches can attract visitors without an algorithm, while one argues that platforms remain the front door through which an independent email list grows. Another recalls learning website design through a colleague after experimenting with Angelfire.
His other upload, "AI VIDEO EDITING SESSION - Claude + Premiere Pro", explores handing editing tasks to Claude Desktop using a creative brief and branding instructions. The description sets up a further session to revise the first version. Meanwhile, his earlier conversation with Rene Ritchie and Robin from the YouTube Studio team remains among the channel's busiest videos.
Subscribers held steady, while daily viewing is running noticeably above Blake's usual level. The week's pairing captures two sides of his creator-business interests: using new tools to get the work done, and keeping a place of your own to put it.

What viewers say
Agree on the email list. Where I push back a bit: a website nobody visits owns nothing. The list only grows if YouTube keeps sending people there, so the rented land is still the front door. Treat it that way.
@YouTubeOperatorAcademySee it on YouTubeGreat video Roberto! I remember Angelfire. I loved it. I remember at my review at work they asked me what I'd like to do and I told them I liked doing sites like that, had no idea one of my bosses was doing freelance graphic design for HBO and he taught me on the job. So cool!
@resetwithtiffanySee it on YouTubeThe rented land framing is the part most creators skip past. Owning the list and the site is what survives a policy change.

can all sorts of niches have their own website? and how do you drive traffic to your website without an algorithm?
@nomadicgamingguild-b1tSee it on YouTubeI guess I was working towards a personal brand by default; building a fantasy universe with its own lore, magic systems and other stuff.
