Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Victims of deadly Florida jet crash identified

FOX 5 New York returned to a grieving Bronx community with two follow-ups to a teenager's fatal shooting: a mother's journey from Ghana to bury her son, and Lisa Evers's conversation with retired NYPD detective Dave Sarni. The detective interview is now drawing the most daily views of the channel's videos, followed by the report on the mother's return.

Brooklyn reporting also gained attention. Coverage of the deadly Sunset Park fire described a collapsed interior staircase that trapped residents upstairs. Fire marshals are investigating lithium-ion batteries found inside as a possible cause, not an established explanation. Jessica Formoso supplied a separate update for Newsroom Live with Dan Bowens.

Across 48 uploads, the week's largest audience went to "Victims of deadly Florida jet crash identified," which passed half a million views. As we reported here, Frances Wang's report pairs family photographs with the preliminary investigation. NTSB board member Thomas Chapman identifies weather as a major focus and describes evidence of an aircraft breakup before impact. Most of that video's viewing came during its first day; the newer local reports now carry more daily momentum.

The channel's subscriber total was unchanged over the week, and daily views are running a little below their usual level. Nearby in the local-news landscape, CBS New York and FOX 11 Los Angeles are both drawing above-usual daily audiences. For FOX 5 New York, the freshest attention is on its continuing Bronx coverage.
