Windsor's trade concerns bring FOX 2 Detroit across the river
Lauren Edwards asks Ontario residents what Michigan's Democratic victories could mean for relations with their American neighbors.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Canadians react to the US midterm election blue wave
FOX 2 Detroit sent Lauren Edwards to Windsor's riverfront to hear how Michigan's election results looked from the other side of the border. For the Canadians she spoke with, the conversation quickly came back to trade.
Colleen Romance, from Belle River, welcomed the result: "Time for a change, and I hope this will improve relations, especially now that Michigan's blue." Kingsville resident Rob MacDonald took a more reserved position, saying he mostly tries to stay neutral. But he, too, brought up trade concerns. Edwards and studio anchor Roop Raj connected those responses to tariffs and the Gordie Howe International Bridge, a crossing with practical importance on both sides of the river.
"Canadians react to the US midterm election blue wave" was the most watched of the station's fifteen new uploads, reaching roughly 18,000 views. It also carries the most momentum among individual videos, followed by the Democratic election-celebration report and coverage of a serious hit-and-run outside a Warren White Castle.
Across the channel, daily viewing is running comfortably above its usual level. FOX 2 Detroit added 1,000 subscribers over the week, maintaining the growth pace of the past month. Its weekly views were close to FOX 32 Chicago's, while CBS TEXAS had a substantially busier week.
The local entertainment calendar supplied another story: a report on KATSEYE's last-minute concert postponement. The station spoke with an Illinois mother whose family had made travel arrangements for the Detroit show, bringing the week's coverage from cross-border policy back to the consequences of a changed evening's plans.
