FOX 2 Detroit's "President Donald Trump in Michigan" opens with the buildup at McMorran Place arena in Port Huron. Host Sydnee Little introduces the broadcast before the camera settles on the crowded venue. The upload reached nearly 15,000 views in seven hours, an unusually fast start for the station's longer videos.

The opening hour gives substantial space to candidates and officeholders ahead of Trump's appearance. Attorney general candidate Douglas Lloyd emphasizes community safety, Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall highlights prescription drug prices and welfare fraud, and Representative Lisa McClain urges people to vote Republican.

There is also a celebrity question hanging over the early coverage. Little mentions social-media speculation about a possible Nicki Minaj appearance. A separate FOX 2 Detroit upload, "Nicki Minaj speaks at GOP rally in Port Huron," shows that appearance did happen. According to its description, Minaj expresses her support for Trump and discusses Mike Rogers and John James.

The station also posted a separate moment from Trump's speech: he calls Senate candidate Rogers back to the stage after Rogers had already addressed the rally.
