Fuel and munitions would have to be purchased and stored before a crisis, rather than delivered just as military bases need them. That is a central logistical challenge in the Pentagon's Fortress plan, explained in a FOX 10 Phoenix report featuring Fox News correspondent Jennifer Griffin.
The proposal calls for bases to hold at least 90 days of fuel and weapons supplies, alongside independent power sources. The aim is to keep military operations running if cyberattacks, sabotage or other attacks disable civilian infrastructure.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth puts the ambition plainly: "Our bases stay lit. Our aircraft keep flying, our command centers never go dark."
Griffin's report also describes relocating key military leaders to Colorado's Cheyenne Mountain Complex and preparing factories for wartime weapons production. An expert explains why moving away from just-in-time deliveries means buying supplies and finding space to keep them on base.
The Short has passed 100,000 views, with its opening-day audience roughly twenty times the channel's usual for the format. Its comments also came in far faster than usual.
The stockpile target is not an implementation deadline. Griffin closes with a substantial qualification: "The Pentagon's plan would cost billions of dollars and take years to implement."
