Flight FZ1073's cockpit attack: ETimes' Netanyahu video starts at 160 times its usual pace
A second video, a doctor's account of the injured captain, drew a big audience the same day as the channel stayed on the story.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 132,386 views a day, 162 times a normal first day on this channel (818).
Flydubai Stabbing: Netanyahu Reveals 'RADICAL' Co-Pilot's CHILLING REACTION After Being SUBDUED
A new upload on ETimes usually reaches well under a thousand views in its first day. Its report on Flydubai Flight FZ1073, posted October 1, had passed 65,000 in its first eight hours. That pace runs more than a hundred times above the channel's usual start.
The video's description sets out the events. During the flight, the captain was stabbed in the cockpit, and the aircraft dropped sharply with 174 people on board. Passengers forced their way into the cockpit and restrained the attacker. The plane then made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia. The video centers on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who spoke about the co-pilot's background and how he reacted after he was subdued. The title's word "radical" is his description. The description notes that investigators are still looking into the motive.
On the same day, a second ETimes video drew about half that pace, still far above a usual first day. It tells what a doctor saw: Israeli dentist Musaev Shota treated the bleeding captain on board. The channel's other uploads name him as Indian captain Smit Machchhar and say that, badly hurt, he managed to open the cockpit door as passengers rushed in. Many viewers under the Netanyahu video ask that the captain be given credit for what he did.
ETimes stayed with the story after that, with a live stream on the investigation and, the next day, another video on the captain's injuries.
