WATCH LIVE: The sentencing of convicted murderer, Caleb Flynn murder trial
A long live stream on East Idaho News usually ends its first day somewhere under 20,000 views. The full broadcast of Caleb Flynn's sentencing passed 280,000 in its first six hours.
Flynn, a youth pastor who appeared on season 12 of American Idol, was convicted in Ohio of murdering his wife, Ashley. In a 911 call early on February 16, 2026, he told dispatchers that intruders had entered their home and shot her. On Monday, Judge Jeanine Pratt sentenced him to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The channel's follow-up episode of Courtroom Insider describes Flynn standing in tears before the sentence, apologizing to his daughters, his family and Ashley's family, and still saying he did not kill his wife.
Before that came the victim impact statements from Ashley's family, including letters from the couple's daughters. Most of the comment section is about those statements, and in six hours the stream had already drawn nearly three times the comments a stream here usually gets in a full day. One statement was also posted on its own: Ashley's sister, Kayla Keyt, reading hers. That clip started at several times the channel's normal pace.
Nate Eaton, who hosts Courtroom Insider, and his colleague Jordan Wood traveled to Ohio for the day. Their live stream from the drive to the courthouse also ran well ahead of the channel's usual start.
