Prosecutors reveal what they say led to bartender's killing and dismemberment
A new short on WSB-TV usually ends its first day with a couple of thousand views. This report from a Douglas County courtroom was past 40,000 eleven hours after it went up. Its comment section, where a short here usually collects a handful of replies, held well over a hundred.
The case is the killing of Jamal Parker, a bartender. Prosecutors say Parker was killed after a fight with one of the co-defendants at a home on Langdale Chase in Douglas County. Investigators allege that several people took part in dismembering his body and placing the remains in the Dog River Reservoir. Six people have been charged so far, prosecutors say, and another arrest warrant is still outstanding.
At the hearing, the judge denied bond to two of the defendants. The judge cited the seriousness of the charges and earlier failures to appear in court. Parker's father attended, and the station reports that he described hearing the allegations as extremely difficult.
Most of the people writing under the video are discussing the bond ruling. Several ask how a fight could have ended this way. A few say this is not the first case of its kind they have read about in the past few days. WSB-TV's other uploads from the same stretch, including its report on Caleb Flynn's sentencing in Ohio, drew far smaller audiences.
