Resident Evil 3 gets the Kill Count Games treatment, Nicholai included

The tally arrived alongside canon playthroughs of both the 1999 original and the 2020 remake, and its most liked comment says the count runs longer than the game.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 192,667 views a day, 14 times a normal first day on this channel (13,794).

Nine hours after Dead Meat Games posted "Resident Evil 3 | KILL COUNT GAMES," it had passed 100,000 views. New uploads here usually spend a whole first day getting nowhere near that.

The format comes from the family business. Dead Meat, the horror channel run by James A. Janisse and Chelsea Rebecca, made its name counting every on-screen death in horror films, and this sister channel brings the same bookkeeping to games. Its about text calls it home to Kill Count Games, What We Play In The Shadows and DMG Report. The video's tags name Zoran Gvojic, and the comments credit him with doing the counting.

The Kill Count was the centerpiece of a whole Resident Evil 3 day. The channel also put up two-part canon playthroughs of the 2020 remake and of the 1999 original, Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, the one where Jill Valentine tries to get out of Raccoon City with a relentless pursuer on her heels. A short announced the count. The playthroughs have each gathered a few thousand views. The tally is the one people came for.

The comments read like a group of longtime players checking the math. The most liked one jokes that the count is longer than the game itself, a nod to how short the remake felt to many players. Others are relieved that the treacherous Nicholai made the final tally, a few defend Carlos in advance, and one viewer suggests adding broken bones to the Kill Count rules, which would make a Resident Evil 4 episode very long. Several are also arguing over whether Emesis Blue's record count can ever be beaten.
