Dave Jorgenson says Republican gerrymandering "backfired" in Florida
His election-firsts Short has passed a million views alongside a channel-wide surge in viewing.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 3,554,569 views a day, 7 times a normal day (510,942).
The historic firsts of the 2026 election
Dave Jorgenson's post-election coverage has moved from who made history to what happened when Florida Republicans redrew the map. His verdict, delivered in the title of one upload: "Republican gerrymandering backfired."
The channel drew roughly 3.6 million daily views, seven times its usual pace. Alongside that jump, "The historic firsts of the 2026 election" passed a million views within its first day. Its description adds a small qualification to that sweeping title: "… so far."
The Florida upload offers a more specific story. Drawing on Mother Jones reporting by Laura C. Morel, its description points to Democrat Kathy Castor's reelection in a district redrawn to include rural parts of Hillsborough County that had supported Trump. It also highlights Democrat Pia Dandiya's lead in another redrawn district, while making clear that her result was still a lead at the point described.
Jorgenson's election coverage had already found a substantial audience before the results. His upload about Haley Stevens endorsing Republican Mike Rogers, titled "Directing Rep Haley Stevens (D-MI) on CNN", has drawn more views than either of those post-election videos so far.
