Trump calls allegations against Kimberly Guilfoyle "too bad"
C-SPAN's brief exchange drew an unusually large audience as Guilfoyle's lawyer disputed the authenticity of messages behind the allegations.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 413,855 views a day, 18 times a normal first day on this channel (22,456).
Trump calls Guilfoyle allegations "too bad"
President Donald Trump said he knew little about the allegations involving U.S. Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle, then offered a personal description: "But she was always very nice."
C-SPAN's clip of his Friday remarks has approached half a million views in about 30 hours. Its estimated first-day audience was more than eighteen times the usual audience for the broadcaster's Shorts, making this brief answer a standout among its public-affairs uploads.
According to C-SPAN's description, Guilfoyle has been accused of seeking $100,000 from a Trump donor in exchange for access to administration officials. Her lawyer has disputed the authenticity of the messages at the center of those allegations.
"I just heard about it," Trump told reporters. He called the allegations "too bad" and said he did not know much about them. The clip presents his response, not a resolution of the disputed account.
Other moments from Friday also drew attention on C-SPAN. A separate clip of Trump thanking Vladimir Putin for a Russian diesel deal had an unusually strong start. And Mike Tyson's brief White House appearance, in which he said he thought Trump would win, brought far more comments than a typical C-SPAN Short.
