A Lakeland heckler, Paxton's leaked tape and a Nixon summit on C-SPAN
Fifteen uploads went up, and the busiest came from one Thursday that ran from a Florida Senate rally to a Washington tribute to the 37th president.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Vance accuses protester of being a "Democrat plant"
No news channel near C-SPAN's size drew more daily views than it did this week. At about four million a day, it was running at roughly twice its usual level, ahead of GBNews and 9 News Australia, which were both having strong weeks of their own.
Most of the energy came from a single Thursday. In Lakeland, Florida, JD Vance was campaigning for Senate candidate Ashley Moody when a protester interrupted him, and Vance called the man a "Democrat plant." That clip drew the biggest crowd. Close behind it, Peter Doocy asked Donald Trump why he was heading to Texas after a leaked recording had Ken Paxton saying the midterm convention hurt his numbers. Trump repeated his claim that the convention outdrew the NFL, and C-SPAN's own description lays out the Nielsen figures that say otherwise.
Trump's comments on whether Iran was behind the Flydubai attack on a flight to Tel Aviv also appeared twice, in two separate cuts.
The Nixon Foundation's Grand Strategy Summit in Washington supplied the rest. Steve Daines told Republicans the Supreme Court is "on the ballot" and pointed back to the blocked Merrick Garland nomination of 2016. West Virginia's Riley Moore went further and argued that Nixon himself had been framed.
