The Mercedes reverses out of an attempted police stop, tearing off its front bumper before speeding away. Later in CBS LA's live pursuit coverage, the helicopter camera finds a different scene: two cruisers have collided at 9th and Los Angeles streets.

The broadcast follows Wednesday night's pursuit through downtown Los Angeles, with aerial reporter Desmond Shaw describing the driver's movements from SkyCal. Officers try to box the vehicle in at an intersection, but the driver escapes that attempt and repeatedly travels the wrong way along one-way streets.

Tall buildings around California Plaza then interrupt the aerial view. The broadcast replays the earlier attempt to stop the Mercedes while officers continue searching for the reportedly stolen vehicle.

The crash scene appears at 10:15 in the upload. Shaw reports deployed airbags and firefighters responding, with no reports of serious injuries to officers at that point. The footage shows the aftermath, rather than the moment the cruisers struck each other.

The report drew about 88,000 views before its first day was over, compared with roughly 3,000 for a typical CBS LA regular video's first day. Its title names the police-car collision, but most of the broadcast follows the pursuit that preceded it.
