Coast Guard gives update on missing plane near Nantucket
The U.S. Coast Guard has found debris from the medical jet that disappeared near Nantucket early Saturday with six people on board. The plane had been flying from Bermuda to Boston, and as we reported here, news of its disappearance had already traveled far beyond CBS Boston's usual audience.
The Coast Guard's update, posted Sunday under the WBZ News Weekends banner, passed 43,000 views in its first twelve hours. A new video on the channel usually ends its whole first day at around 3,000. It is not yet clear what brought the plane down.
The people who stopped to comment mostly left words for the families of those aboard. Several also said the update's audio was hard to hear, and a few asked where exactly the debris had turned up.
It was a heavy weekend on the water for the station. The same Sunday, WBZ also reported that the Coast Guard had suspended its search for a boater who went missing after a boat crashed into rocks off Manchester-by-the-Sea.
