In the Call Her Daddy Short, Alex Cooper revisits a warning Burton had given Bush about dating someone. Bush acknowledges that her friend had experience she did not yet have herself. "It was good advice. I didn't have the wherewithal or the experience," she says.

What followed was shame, including the uncomfortable realization that Burton had been right. Bush interpreted the distance between them as rejection, rather than something they could talk through.
