Would Jeremy Culhane rather let his SNL castmates draw on his face or eat a punishingly spicy wing? He takes the wing, but he has a complaint: "Everybody gets truth or dare, I get shamed."

That uneven distribution of embarrassment becomes a running thread in "SNL | Hot Ones Versus," which brings Culhane together with Tommy Brennan, Kam Patterson, Ben Marshall and Veronika Slowikowska. Instead of Sean Evans guiding an interview, the cast members question and challenge one another, with hot wings as the penalty for dodging or failing a task.

There is another assignment running underneath it all: each player must sneak a secret word into conversation without being caught. Culhane's is "constitutional"; Slowikowska has the rather less conversational "exclusivity." Viewers are picking apart those attempts, with several comparing Culhane's experience to the shifting-rule comedy show Game Changer.

The questions do extract some backstage material. Marshall recalls bombing a sketch pitch to Ariana Grande, but chooses a wing rather than identify the season's worst sketch. Slowikowska's impression of someone at the table also ends with a penalty.

Culhane, meanwhile, gets classic-character guessing and a quick-change costume challenge alongside his face-drawing dilemma. The final challenge replaces questions with musical chairs, adding the hottest wings to a game that already gives this particular group plenty of opportunities to interfere with one another.
