Alex Cooper asks whether there was a proposal, and Sophia Bush gives her a brief surprise: "I did it."

"Turns out, I was never supposed to be asked, I was supposed to ask," Bush says in "Sophia Bush on proposing and getting married." The Call Her Daddy Short drew about 37,000 views in its first day, an unusually fast start for the show's short clips.

The One Tree Hill actress describes a relationship that grew quietly and a decision to keep something meaningful away from public attention. Both partners had already experienced elaborate weddings, she explains. This time, the celebration was intimate, spontaneous and held with close friends in the backyard.

The menu was part of the occasion, not a separate production. "And we literally prepped food, put it on the smoker, got married in the backyard, had dinner," Bush tells Cooper. She calls it "the best, most perfect day."
