Maine, Kansas and Florida: three Senate races fill The Bulwark's week

Will Saletan's breakdown of Susan Collins's debate against Troy Jackson drew about 185,000 views in its first five hours.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

"The Maine Senate Debate Was BRUTAL for Susan Collins" is Will Saletan doing what he does on The Bulwark: walking through a political moment line by line. This time it is Collins, the Republican incumbent, against Democratic challenger Troy Jackson. In Saletan's telling, Jackson kept tying her to Trump on the Iran war, tariffs, abortion, health care and the Republican tax and spending bill, while she kept pointing to her independence and her work for Maine. It was the channel's most watched upload of the week, at about 185,000 views in five hours.

The debate came up again on Bulwark Daily, where Tim Miller praised Jackson's performance before turning to his guest, Angie Nixon, Florida's Democratic Senate nominee. The title carries her loudest line, a call to impeach Trump and his whole cabinet. That episode is the channel's fastest mover right now. Close behind it is Lauren Egan's trip to Kansas, where former pastor Adam Hamilton is running even with Republican Roger Marshall in a race the GOP once counted as safe.

By Wednesday, Sam Stein had gone live with Marc Polymeropoulos and Michael Weiss to pick apart a Wall Street Journal report on Kimberly Guilfoyle's private messages with a Trump donor, including a $100,000 request for her Amex bill. That made 15 uploads in seven days.

The overall pace is about half the channel's usual, which puts The Bulwark in the same slower stretch as most political channels near its size. Its week still gathered more views than all but one of them. Occupy Democrats had the biggest week in the group, and Triggernometry was the clear exception to the slowdown, running well above its usual pace.
