A ghost, a heckling dog and Magic Johnson: Michael Blaustein's crowd-work week
The ghost short passed a million and a half views in four days, between tour stops that run from St. Louis to Boston.

GHOST AT MY SHOW! 😳 #standupcomedy
A usual day on Michael Blaustein's channel brings in something near five million views, spread across years of crowd-work clips. The days around these seven uploads ran a good deal softer than that, a little over half the usual pace, which says more about how high his normal is than about the new videos.
Because one of them traveled. "GHOST AT MY SHOW! 😳 #standupcomedy" went up on September 28 and has passed a million and a half views, far ahead of everything else he posted. Blaustein built his following on exactly this kind of moment, the comic turning a stray remark from the seats into the night's material, and a ghost is a fine thing to be handed.
The longer piece of the week belongs to a different audience member. "HECKLED BY A DOG!?" is a full 24-minute crowd work show, and a short called "DOG IN THE FRONT ROW??", posted a day ago, is already moving fast enough to sit among the channel's busiest videos. The dog, it seems, has a second act. Elsewhere, 2,000 French people heckled him in one short, and two guessing games had him working out Magic Johnson and Magnus Carlsen, the latter with its asterisks intact.
Among the stand-up channels near his size, Matteo Lane is having the standout week, running well above his usual pace, while Jimmy Carr carries on at the top of the group. Blaustein, meanwhile, has a tour to get back to: two Boston nights in early October, most of them already sold out.
