- 2:10Booth explains why he favors thread milling here over risking a broken tap inside the workpiece.
- 4:00A leveling foot and thread gauges check the fit of a finished sample.
- 10:44Conversational programming screens show the machining parameters and a 3D simulation at the controller.
- 20:15The thread mill makes five passes in the test piece before another fit check.
- 28:46Booth widens the thread cut by one-thousandth of an inch through a controller adjustment.
- 39:18The table plan includes removing braces, adding two storage cabinets underneath and mounting leveling feet.
Why thread mill a hole rather than tap it? For Adam Booth, the appeal is avoiding a broken tap lodged in a workpiece. His welding table leg extensions give that argument a practical test in Abom79's most watched new upload, "Thread Milling 3/4-10 with Conversational Programming", which has reached roughly 49,000 views.
This is his first time programming thread milling through the machine's conversational controls. He walks through the screens and simulation, then takes the parts through facing, drilling, chamfering and threading. A test piece comes first, checked with gauges and a leveling foot before the actual steel extensions go into the vise.
The useful detail is the small correction: Booth adjusts the thread diameter by a thousandth of an inch at the controller. By the end, four finished extensions are ready for the next stage of the table project. He plans to remove braces, fit storage cabinets underneath and install the leveling feet.
Viewers bring their own shop experience to the comments, comparing thread milling with rigid tapping and discussing chip clearance and coolant. Several describe learning CNC alongside him, including a viewer who gets value from the demonstrations without owning a CNC machine.
A second upload, "Thread Milling 3/4-10 UNC #abom79 #milltronics #waltertools", keeps the same operation in focus and currently draws the most daily views of his videos. The previous week's "Learn Every Day #abom79 #cncmachining #manufacturing #machinemaintenance #cncmill" also remains active.
Abom79 added 1,000 subscribers over the week, although daily viewing is below its usual level. Among nearby DIY channels, Milly | Belgrave Villa Renovation is enjoying elevated viewing, while DIY Woodworking Projects is closer to its normal rhythm. Booth's week stays firmly at the controller, turning a workshop improvement into a lesson he is learning as he teaches.

It's great to see you honing your skills with the CNC machines. I'm doing the same. Great videos amigo!! Thank you for sharing!!!
@rolandescobar4084See it on YouTubeI haven't tried rigid tapping in my machine yet. Thread milling has yielded some really good results. (Tormach 1100MX)
@alewis8765See it on YouTubeOther forms of tapping have their place, but with the sophisticated cnc that you have, thread milling makes sense when the work is aleady in the machine.

I had tried many thread milling works for blind holes with chamfer at the entrance. The vertical CNC mill equipped with multiple tools works smoothly and fast if only a few pieces are needed for the jobs. Once you are knowledgable about how threads are milled, you should be confident for any odd size internal threads. Nice demo! Adam.
@magwang9264See it on YouTubeAn old dog with new tricks. You have made the transition very well from manual to CNC. You are a good teacher and hope people watching get good value from your videos. I know I do even though I have no CNC machines. I purchased an 8X20 foot flat bed milling machine for my company and learned conversational programming from them. They were pioneers in that method.
