's car was still at home when she failed to turn up to teach. Inside the house, investigators found a broken lamp and an alarm clock under the bed. Outside lay a latex glove containing her DNA and an unidentified man's.

That glove is a central piece of evidence in "What happened to Tara Grinstead? | Full Episode," an archive report presented by Peter Van Sant. Originally broadcast in August 2022, it traces the Georgia teacher's disappearance in 2005 through years of stalled leads, arrests and trials. Its October upload is a return to that reporting, not a new development in the case.

The episode also examines information people say they tried to bring to investigators. Neighbor Janice Paulk recalls an early report about statements overheard at a party. Witness John McCullough describes repeatedly contacting law enforcement over nine years after hearing an account of what happened to Grinstead's body. Their testimony makes the delay between receiving information and acting on it a central question.

A breakthrough comes when Brooke Sheridan contacts the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in 2017. The documentary follows the resulting interviews and arrests, then the sharply different court outcomes: one man received a 25-year sentence following his 2019 conviction; another was acquitted of charges relating to Grinstead's murder in 2022 but sentenced to ten years for concealing her death.

Alongside the investigation, friends remember Grinstead's work as a teacher and pageant mentor. Former contestant Dana Wilder helps establish what her absence meant beyond the case itself: a person who had helped other young women prepare for their own opportunities.
