How much of 48 Hours' week belonged to new reporting, and how much to the archive? Both had a substantial place, with thirteen uploads bringing recently broadcast investigations alongside episodes reaching back nearly two decades.
The most-watched was "The Mansion Above Dale Hollow Lake | Full Episode", approaching 2.5 million views. Peter Van Sant's report moves beyond local stories about a supposedly cursed house to the evidence in Michael Harding's murder: ammunition, phone records and the route of a burner phone. It follows the investigation through Thomas O'Donnell's trial and murder conviction, while Harding's family describes the person they lost.
"What the Cameras Saw | Full Episode", reported by Anne-Marie Green, also passed a million views. Like the Dale Hollow Lake investigation, it aired in late October before reaching the channel. Meanwhile, Van Sant's August 2022 report, "What happened to Tara Grinstead? | Full Episode", returned to the Georgia teacher's disappearance and is now drawing more daily views than the surveillance-camera episode. The Harding investigation remains the channel's strongest daily draw.
The channel added roughly 16 million views and gained subscribers over the week. Its daily viewing is now more than twice its usual level. Among nearby true-crime and courts channels, The Civil Rights Lawyer is also seeing above-usual daily viewing, while COURT TV is having a slower day than its norm.
The archive selections give this week's schedule its range: Richard Schlesinger's "Showdown in the Bedroom | Full Episode" dates from June 2012, while Troy Roberts' "The Puppet Master | Full Episode" brings a May 2008 investigation back into circulation.
