A $15,000 Fiat Topolino in Ann Arbor, and viewers say golf cart

Ryan Felton spent a day driving the tiny electric car on Michigan roads, and it became the most watched of WSJ News's ten uploads.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

WSJ News put Ryan Felton in a car smaller than most parking spaces. He took the Fiat Topolino, a micro EV that sells for around $15,000, through Ann Arbor, Michigan, for a full day to see how it handles American roads. Four days later it has about 130,000 views, the most of anything the channel posted in a ten-upload week, and it is still moving faster than the rest.

The comment section has settled on one comparison: golf cart. Several viewers say it is a natural fit for Florida retirement communities. Others point out that it is a rebadged Citroën Ami, on sale in France since 2020, and many measure the price against older used EVs and Chinese hatchbacks sold abroad. The missing doors and the low top speed come up again and again.

The newest upload is close behind on pace. It covers Polymarket, the prediction market, which the description says shrugged off an attempted $10 million scheme built on stolen debit cards and is now tightening compliance as it looks toward an IPO. Lingling Wei's look at Xi Jinping's Washington visit, and the requests for extra rest that raised questions about his health, is also still finding viewers. Earlier in the week, Pete Hegseth naming Elon Musk, Newt Gingrich and Anduril's Palmer Luckey to "Project Meridian" had the fastest first day.

The channel as a whole ran a little below its usual daily pace and added about a thousand subscribers. Most of the news channels close to its size were slower than usual too. The Financial Express was the busiest by far, and Washington Post Universe was the quietest.
