Woodworking Guide turns stacked boards into a speaker cabinet

Seven new uploads span DIY audio, coffee tables, a chair and a backyard structure built from four beams.

  1. 1:34Cut boards are stacked and taped together before marking and drilling.
  2. 4:39A handheld jigsaw cuts recessed handle holes and other panel openings.
  3. 9:01The rear connector terminal is test-fitted, framed with wooden blocks and routed flush.
  4. 11:53A circle-cutting router jig creates the large speaker-driver openings in the front baffle.
  5. 16:23Wood glue and a pneumatic brad nailer join the panels into a cabinet frame.

Before the speaker cabinet takes shape, its parts travel through a small procession of tools: table saw, drill press, bandsaw, jigsaw and router. Woodworking Guide's most watched new upload makes the wooden enclosure itself the main attraction.

"Building a Tiny DIY Sound System... That SHAKES the Room!" has drawn about 12,000 views. The room-shaking promise belongs to the title; the construction offers plenty of concrete detail. Boards are stacked and taped together for drilling and curved cuts, recessed handles are carved into panels, and a connector terminal is fitted flush into the back. A circle-cutting router jig makes the large driver openings before glue and brad nails bring the cabinet together.

Viewers pick up on the cabinet construction and joinery, while others turn the tiny-system premise into jokes about imaginary neighbor complaints. It extends the speaker-building thread we reported here in October, this time alongside "Turning a Pigeon Coop into a MASSIVE Sound System!" and a cabinet for speakers and audio components.

The seven-upload week also leaves room for coffee tables, a chair made from two old pieces of wood and a backyard structure made from four beams. That last project is already the channel's next busiest source of daily views behind the tiny sound system. An older upload about a huge piece of reclaimed wood continues to draw attention too.

The subscriber count held steady, while the channel gathered roughly 224,000 views over the week. Daily viewing is a little below its usual level. For this batch of builds, the speaker enclosure is where the most viewing momentum sits, with its handles, ports and carefully routed openings giving the woodworking as much attention as the audio.
