Carl Judice called about a replacement air filter, not a replacement truck. In VINwiki's most-watched new upload, David Vespremi recounts how that modest request grew into a visit to Louisiana with a brand-new Chevrolet.
Vespremi, a former K&N brand marketing director, says Judice had passed a million miles and figured his filter's million-mile warranty meant it was time for another. The company's checks uncovered maintenance logs and a truck running its original, unopened engine. Asked about his motor oil, Judice's answer was refreshingly unglamorous: whatever was on sale at Walmart.
The resulting truck delivery came with a crowd at Judice's home and an alligator lunch. Vespremi tells the story behind the advertising campaign, rather than establishing an air filter as the explanation for that mileage. A separate sponsored tire segment closes the video. In the comments, viewers remember the campaign, ask about the truck's door hinges and compare their own high-mileage vehicles.
The upload has drawn roughly 39,000 views, the largest audience among five new arrivals. Elsewhere, Matt Stevenson shared a tribute to his father's love of cars, and Bob Varsha revisited the extraordinary finish to Formula 1's 2008 season, when Lewis Hamilton secured the championship on the final lap in Brazil.
The busiest story right now comes from just outside this week's uploads: Tavarish's account of auditioning for The Grand Tour. Chris Barta's discussion of selling cars to billionaires is also gathering more daily views than the new releases.
VINwiki added about 680,000 views over the week, with subscribers unchanged. Daily viewing is currently well below its usual pace. Among nearby motoring channels, Speed Bump Garage is running above its normal daily viewing, while Vehicle Virgins is having a quieter spell.
