Apeiron gets a mothership ride on VideoFromSpace
Virgin Galactic's new spaceplane arrives in New Mexico for final preparations and flight testing, with commercial flights planned for 2027.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Virgin Galactic's Apeiron Takes to the Skies for First Time — Carried by Mothership!
VMS Eve lifts off with Apeiron tucked beneath its center wing, then brings the spaceplane down at Spaceport America without letting it go. This is a delivery flight, not a trip to space, and VideoFromSpace's footage makes the unusual arrangement easy to appreciate: two fuselages carrying a third vehicle between them.
The October 28 journey from Arizona supplied the channel's most-watched new upload of the week, reaching roughly 162,000 views. Footage courtesy of Virgin Galactic follows the aircraft from hangar rollout to its arrival beside the New Mexico terminal. Apeiron's name means "boundless" in ancient Greek; on-screen text says voters from around the world chose it.
There is work to do before passengers board. The description lists avionics integration, validation and flight testing, with Virgin Galactic targeting commercial flights in the second quarter of 2027. In the comments, viewers bring up aerospace designer Burt Rutan's legacy and ask whether the craft will cross the Kármán line, the widely used boundary of space.
Across fifteen uploads, the channel also covered Starship engine tests and astronauts Anil Menon and Joshua Kutryk installing a roll-out solar array outside the ISS. Its older Short about SpaceX's proposed double catch on Flight 15 remains the strongest daily draw, while a NASA animation of the planned SkyFall Mars helicopters is gathering attention too.
VideoFromSpace added about 2.2 million views over the week, with its subscriber count unchanged. Daily viewing is below its usual level. Nearby science channels offer a mixed picture: Deep Look is close to its normal daily viewing, while Sick Science! is busier than usual. Here, the week's most-watched arrival needed wings rather than a rocket firing.
