The Warp Zone gives its World of Warcraft obsessive the language of a departing employee. Sitting across from his wife, he hands over a letter: "I will be tendering my resignation from this organization effective immediately." The organization is his family.

It's a staged comedy sketch, with "WoW Forever" supplying the dad's reason to abandon ordinary life for his dream of playing an undead paladin. His wife asks the obvious question about leaving a family for a video game. He responds as though she has overlooked the paperwork.

Apparently, their wedding vows contained an escape clause if Blizzard ever released Classic Plus. Then comes his staffing argument: his guild needs a main tank. In his reckoning, keeping a whole group of players protected matters more than showing up for the people across the table.

The Short drew about 77,000 views in eight hours, an unusually fast start for The Warp Zone. Its comment section had already attracted more than twice the channel's usual full-day number of comments.

Viewers are extending the joke rather than just debating his priorities. Some expected the marital disagreement to turn out to be an Alliance-Horde divide. Others suggest the resignation could have been an email, predict server trouble will bring him home, or propose a family subscription as the practical solution.

The sketch's coldest turn comes when he describes family life as his fallback after Shadowlands. Even his supposed paradise needs someone else to absorb the damage.

I really tough the joke would be that his wife was an alliance player.
