Cutting someone else's hair is one thing. Trimming the back of your own head with scissors, without catching a finger, gives The4thKen a different reason to admire the result.
"I honestly impressed myself, I didn't cut my fingers at all, not even once," he says in "I'm balding at 22", the most watched of his four uploads this week, with roughly 226,000 views. He explains that his crown has always had lighter density, then works through facial-hair trimming, clipper-over-comb cutting and a freehand taper. He leaves enough length on top to slick back before styling his curls.
The comments open up two conversations: viewers discuss putting hair loss into perspective, while others focus on the difficulty of cutting your own hair. Several suggest treatments, but the video itself is a grooming transformation, not a treatment tutorial.
"His Worst Enemy is a Comb" also drew a substantial audience. The two later uploads, including "disturbing MATTED 12 year dreadlocks transformation", have had much smaller starts.
The older durag transformations remain the channel's busiest videos by daily views. Both uploads whose titles refer to 1979 are drawing more daily viewing than the new self-cut, extending a theme we reported on here last week.
Across the channel, the week brought about 3.5 million views and a modest subscriber gain. Daily viewing is well above its usual level. Among nearby beauty and hair channels, milky had a particularly big week, while Jaz Hand was quieter. For The4thKen, a self-cut has added something more personal to the familiar client-makeover lineup.
