He drove his father to vote. Tennessee Brando recounts that early-voting trip in a video that turns from frustration with Tennessee politics toward the candidates and history he thinks voters should remember.
His central argument challenges the familiar description of Tennessee as a red state. "I keep pointing this out, we're a non-voting state," he says, urging people not to treat Republican victories as inevitable.
The upload drew more than 180,000 views in seven hours, already roughly triple the channel's usual full-day audience for regular videos. Its title, "I've NEVER Seen Tennessee Voters Like This!", leads into a personal political appeal rather than a statewide turnout report.
At the center is an earlier interview with Jerri Green, the Democratic nominee for Tennessee governor. Green points to the state's role in women's suffrage, civil rights and marriage equality, arguing that Tennessee has an independent streak that its political shorthand misses. Brando says her account made him recognize how much his frustration with present-day politics had crowded out that history.
He names Green, congressional candidate Michaela Barnett and Democratic Senate nominee Marquita Bradshaw among the women he voted for. He also credits the activism of Justin Jones, Justin Pearson and Gloria Johnson, known as the Tennessee Three, with helping spark political momentum against gun violence. His closing appeal is explicitly partisan: replace Republican representatives with candidates he believes will deliver change.
