How much can you see through a blindfold? Chloe Petts has a fairly emphatic answer after watching Richard Ayoade tackle Taskmaster's backyard obstacle course.
The contestants must avoid orange objects and swinging sausages, follow instructions and deliver beer without spilling it, all while supposedly unable to see. Nina Conti and Matt Lucas accumulate hefty time penalties. Petts crawls through with determination; Isy Suttie loses much of her beer.
Then Ayoade appears in sunglasses beneath transparent mesh goggles and navigates the course with conspicuous ease. Back in the studio, Petts wants Greg Davies to acknowledge the obvious. "The whole time, Greg! What were you watching?" she asks. Davies gives Ayoade maximum points anyway.
That dispute is one strand of "Taskmaster Season 22, Episode 8 - 'The unfairity.' | Full Episode," which has passed a million views in its first week. Viewers are discussing Ayoade's increasingly visible grin, Petts' objections and the return of the sausage spinner.
The rest of the episode offers different kinds of precision trouble. Contestants make upside-down wool self-portraits alongside an animal, then try to hit target measurements using weight, distance, temperature and sound. Overshooting matters, and consecutive inputs cannot be repeated. Conti's protest supplies the title: "Oh, it's the- the- the unfairity!"
Suttie, meanwhile, finds a philosophical defense for losing her beer: "Drinking is spilling something inside you, isn't it?" The channel has since given that thought its own outtake upload, titled "Is drinking just spilling stuff inside you? #outtake #taskmaster".
