A spooky Pokemon battery replacement!

Reaching the final gym in Johto is a bad moment to discover you can't save. That's the predicament behind "A spooky Pokemon battery replacement!", the most watched of five new uploads from Secret Castle Toys and Games, with roughly 524,000 views.

The Owensboro, Kentucky game store turns an ordinary repair into a comedy sketch: a woman dressed as Misty brings Pokémon Crystal to a clown-costumed technician, who initially mistakes her for Steve Urkel. Under the makeup and silliness, there is actual bench work. He opens the cartridge, cleans the board and solders in a replacement battery, then tackles the sticky shell with a toothbrush. Viewers keep mentioning the Psyduck impression at the end, while one recalls receiving a surprise Psyduck card in an order.

The rest of the week stretches from "Broadcasting our own analog signal, tune in to channel 10!" to a question about adding to a collection. The analog broadcast upload has the second-largest audience among the new releases, but the newest PS2-and-Xbox mystery bundle video is currently gathering views fastest on the channel.

Secret Castle Toys and Games added 3,000 subscribers over the week, maintaining roughly its month-long pace of growth. Daily viewing is below its usual level, though the week's total runs into the millions. Fellow retro retailer DKOldies.com also has slower-than-usual daily viewing, with no net subscriber gain over the week. Here, the fresh momentum belongs to a very large mystery bundle and the question of whether the store can fulfill it.
