Ted the bear goes animated, and Rotten Tomatoes TV's busiest teaser shows it

Seth MacFarlane, Mark Wahlberg and Amanda Seyfried return as voices for a Peacock series picking up twelve years after Ted 2, due December 17.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Rotten Tomatoes TV has passed a billion lifetime views, and fifteen new uploads this week kept adding to the pile. The one doing most of the work stars a foul-mouthed teddy bear.

"Ted: The Animated Series Season 1 Teaser" went up on September 30 and has passed 160,000 views, far more than anything else the channel posted. The premise, as the description lays it out, picks up twelve years after the second film: John and Ted are now neighbors, each with a family and a dead-end job, still enabling each other's worst ideas. Seth MacFarlane voices Ted again, as he did in both live-action films and the Peacock prequel series, with Mark Wahlberg, Amanda Seyfried and Jessica Barth back beside him.

The comments keep circling two things. One is a backflip early in the teaser, which a surprising number of viewers single out for how smoothly it lands. The other is Family Guy: plenty of people point out that the bear now looks like he belongs in Quahog, and a few are already pitching a crossover.

The rest of the week was a fall TV calendar in miniature. Michael C. Hall returns in a Dexter: Resurrection Season 2 trailer, with Uma Thurman in the cast and an October 30 date. Paul Bettany closes out his Vision trilogy in VisionQuest on October 14. The Night Agent marked the end of production on its fourth and final season, and Power: Origins posted a second teaser for its young Ghost and Tommy, which is moving quickly for something half a day old.

The channel as a whole is drawing more views a day than usual, though its subscriber count sat still. Among the film and trailer channels around it, Warner Bros. Classics and Focus Features had the biggest weeks, while A24 ran quieter than its norm.
