A Tu-95 down in Amur, and a Polish general's warning, on RFU News

Twelve uploads on the war in Ukraine went out, and a day-old video on Russia's refineries is the one moving fastest now.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Twelve videos went up on RFU News over the week, nearly all of them about the war in Ukraine, and the most watched was about Poland. "Poland retaliates: Russian bomber that fired missiles into Poland is downed" passed 300,000 views. Its title is firmer than its description. The video looks at the Tu-95 strategic bomber that crashed in Russia's Amur region, and at a remark by General Ireneusz Nowak, Poland's operational commander, linking that aircraft to the Kh-101 missile that came down near Tarnawa in July. The description leaves open whether sabotage brought the plane down, and whose. It also walks through Poland's new air-defense rules, under which a hostile object no longer always has to be identified by sight before it can be engaged.

The rest of the week stayed on the front line: counterbattery fire east of Orikhiv, a gap the channel says runs about 40 kilometers between Russian maps and the ground around Lyman, and two videos from the Vovchansk area.

Right now, though, the busiest video is the newest one. "How Russia Lost $27 Billion in record time due to Ukrainian strikes" is a day old and gathering views far faster than anything else on the channel. It moves refinery by refinery from Volgograd and Ryazan to Perm and Ufa, and takes its headline figure from Putin's own acknowledgment of a one percent hit to the economy.

The channel as a whole ran slower than usual, and the subscriber count stayed at 700,000. Among military and geopolitics channels of similar size, only Blue Paw Print added clearly more views over the seven days, with Danny Haiphong almost level. Perun and William Spaniel are both running well above their usual pace.
