Laz Díaz gets a farewell award from Pitching Ninja

Four upheld ABS challenges and one generous final strike call anchor Rob Friedman's eleven-upload week.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The umpire gets the trophy. Pitching Ninja's most-watched new upload gives Laz Díaz a farewell award for a game in which every challenged call went his way, until the final flourish made accuracy rather beside the point.

In "Greatest Final Game by an Umpire. 🏆Winner: Laz Diaz's Revenge against ABS", Díaz survives challenges from both sides of the plate. Spencer Torkelson questions strike three, but the replay shows it catching the zone's edge. Henry Davis challenges a ball that missed by a whisker. Díaz is right again.

Then, with challenges exhausted, Justin Verlander throws a slider off the plate. Díaz calls strike three and later salutes the pitcher as he leaves. Viewers are discussing that last call as a send-off between baseball veterans, rather than simply another disputed strike. The reel has reached roughly 443,000 views and remains the channel's busiest upload by daily viewing.

Rob Friedman's eleven uploads gave the awards theme plenty of room: Luis Arráez earned a hitter-reaction prize, Max Clark and Seth Hernandez supplied the high-velocity counterpart, and Jazz Chisholm received a tongue-in-cheek strike-zone-recognition award. Arráez's clip actually had the stronger first day, though Díaz's farewell has accumulated more views overall. Pat Murphy and Jacob Misiorowski's mound-visit clip is also among the videos drawing the most attention now.

Pitching Ninja added subscribers modestly and collected about 3.3 million views over the week, the largest weekly audience among its nearby sports-creator peers. Daily viewing is a little below its usual level, while MarTHREEnez is having a particularly lively spell. For Friedman's channel, the week's main attraction was the man calling the pitches, not throwing them.
